The Groove

I met some really interesting people while I was here. It’s a relaxed place rather than a party hostel, which suited me because I wanted somewhere quiet to unwind. The staff were excellent, and the hostel was clean, inexpensive and right in the center. A cool place to stay.

After a night sleeping on the streets of Budapest following Sziget Festival, Groove Hostel really came through for the five of us. They could see how exhausted we were, so they let us get some sleep and left payment until we checked out. The owners were laid back and easy to approach with questions. It’s a beautiful building in a great central spot, near shops and places to eat, and there’s a kitchen where you can make your own food. I can’t recommend a better hostel, and I’m looking forward to coming back soon.

I stayed at The Groove for two weeks and it felt like it could be my home. There were always interesting new people arriving, and I made connections with several I plan to visit on my travels. The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere is homely, and the rooms are big and clean with comfortable beds. It’s also well located near public transport and the Danube. Easily the best hostel I’ve stayed in. Highly recommend it.

They provide complimentary real coffee and a range of teas, though I’m not sure the tea is real. The building is lovely and the location is good. Most of the staff were helpful and lovely.
