I regret staying here for three nights and wish I’d read the booking.com reviews more carefully. The building is beautiful, the WiFi was stable, the owner was friendly over email and text, and the location was good. I had no trouble finding it, though there are no signs and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place. I followed the owner’s directions to get inside, and luckily they worked. The listing said the kitchen was shared but didn’t say the bathroom was too. I chose this place after first booking a hostel because I wanted a private bathroom for more privacy and cleanliness. The bathroom didn’t feel clean, and I wasn’t comfortable taking the relaxing bath I’d hoped for. The walls were described as soundproof, which mattered to me, but that wasn’t true. I could clearly hear the neighbors and street noise. I also shared the place with people who seemed to live there all the time. They didn’t speak English, so the situation felt awkward and unclear. I wish this had been explained beforehand. The room was very big, but most of the space wasn’t really used. There’s a nice large couch, though the room could have had a small bathroom or at least a toilet and hand basin. The door lock was difficult to work, and I had to pull and push so hard that I worried I’d break the door. The bed was tiny. I’m only 1.67 m tall, but when I stretched out my feet touched the end and my hands reached the wall. Anyone 1.80 m or taller probably wouldn’t want to sleep there. I wouldn’t book it again. The hostel I’d originally booked would have saved me 80 euros, and the privacy and noise difference would have been minimal. This feels more like a stay with a local or a hostel than an apartment. It’s cheaper than a hotel, but hostels are too, so I’d consider one instead.
