Hotel Zenit Budapest Palace

The reception is beautifully done and has a relaxed feel, and the location is absolutely fantastic. Our room was basic, minimalistic, and a nice space. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a small hiccup at check-in: we'd booked for two, but were given a single room. We went back to reception, and they moved us to a twin room, asking us to come back in the morning so another staff member could switch us to a double. We stayed in the twin because the beds were already pushed together and the room was bigger than a double. To make up for the inconvenience, staff gave us free drinks at the bar. Breakfast was good, with meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, and fruit juice. There was also a kitchen where you could order bacon and eggs. The bar and restaurant were lovely. Cleanliness was my main concern. Some restaurant fixtures needed dusting, the bathroom grout needed a proper scrub, and there was peeling paint and visible damp around the window. Part of the window covering wouldn't stay stuck. The bath tap was also in an awkward spot, so it was easy to bump and burn yourself while showering.

We were there for two nights and had a lovely time. The place is beautiful and well located, and breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of food and drink to choose from. The staff were kind and took great care of us. Mate and Peter deserve a special mention.

I couldn't find anything to fault here. The rooms were clean and really spacious, and the service was excellent from check-in through breakfast. Great hotel in a great location, highly recommended.

We came to Budapest for the sights and Christmas markets, and the market was just a two-minute walk away. St Stevens was about ten minutes away too. The staff were friendly and the location was great. The only downside was that the walls seemed thin, since we could hear alarms, ringing phones, and muffled conversations.
