Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center

The staff were really friendly and kind, and the breakfast was decent, though the options were limited. It's an easy walk to Debrecen's center, with a great central location. I'd highly recommend staying in the city center.

I can't recommend this hotel after what happened with the valet parking. I stayed several nights and handed my car to the staff; when it came back, it had several scratches that hadn't been there before, apparently from the driver door hitting something. I reported the damage, and the hotel manager told me to email them so they could review CCTV footage for evidence that staff had caused it. They said they found no proof, leaving me with damage worth several hundred euros. It's a nice hotel, with good rooms, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar, but the service was very poor for such a high-priced, high-class place.

We left after a humiliating and deeply disappointing exchange with the staff. A week earlier, I'd booked dinner for 15 people and made clear that we were coming to eat. When we arrived, they seated us at low tables unsuitable for dining, then said they couldn't accommodate us. The staff were extremely rude, especially the bartender. When I asked for the manager, she called him over by saying “SOS” in front of us, which felt unprofessional. The manager was even more disrespectful and raised his voice instead of trying to fix the seating problem. He said, “We’re already accepting you, you got cake ( keep in mind the cake was still in the box we didn't even open it yet ) and we gave you plates and you still haven’t ordered”. It was only 8:10 PM, ten minutes after our 8 PM reservation, and we were still trying to sort out where we would sit. We'd planned the dinner well in advance, but ended up arguing with people who showed no regard for customer service. This wasn't my first visit, which made the experience at Hilton Rooftop Garden Inn all the more disappointing. It feels like everything changed with the new staff.

The food was amazing, and the bar is beautiful. I booked the wrong date, but Tibor at reception was really helpful and quickly found me a room. Amazing place!
