Ten guests and one bathroom. :D

The stay ended early for us. After several problems, we left that evening for another place and asked the owner to refund the unused nights, but he refused. The neighborhood itself was quiet with good air, and Nagyerdő was nearby. I was also able to extend our booking from four nights to five by moving in a day early without any fuss. Getting in was a problem from the start. Reception is at number 70, while the accommodation is at 52. Even though I had given my arrival time in advance and rang the bell, nobody opened the door. A colleague couldn't reach the receptionist by phone either, so I had to go through the main gate and find him. That cost me 20 minutes when I had an appointment to get to. The receptionist couldn't register guests, so I had to email a photo of my ID for a colleague to do it. The trolley stop is also an 850-meter walk from the Main Station. It's a two-story family house with three upstairs guest rooms, a shared bathroom, and a shared kitchen downstairs with another guest room. The room doors have cathedral glass, so hallway light pours in and is very disturbing. They're also thin and rickety, and don't block noise: you can hear people walking and talking, and phone beeps. At 4 am on our first night, another guest came in, switched on the light, lit up our room, and talked loudly. They went to their room but left the hallway light on. There were other basic issues too. The room handle screw was loose, and the handle could come off in your hand if you gripped it firmly. The washing machine socket sticks out of the bathroom wall, which seemed like a contact safety risk. There's a bathtub but no curtain, and the shower head has no holder. The room light is very dim; the wardrobe wobbles and its back panel is detached. The towels barely absorb water. Nobody asked whether we wanted the beds together or apart. I pushed them together myself and found dirt underneath, which I cleaned up. A room for two had only one chair. On day three, six construction workers moved in. They smelled very bad, and the odor spread through the house and bathroom. Their phone kept beeping loudly while they smoked and drank beer downstairs in front of the house. The TV was left on in their empty room, the door stayed wide open, and their wet, smelly towels were scattered around the bathroom. By the time we went to shower, there was no hot water. There seems to be an electric boiler that can handle only two or three people at most. I wouldn't recommend staying here, except perhaps for construction workers looking for workers' hostel standard.

We tried to arrange our vacation well in advance, but couldn't book a stay. Our reservation was canceled twice over six months. We were willing to pay for the more expensive room, yet that booking was canceled too.

We left feeling sad about the stay. The house could have been fine, but mold had eaten into the walls in several places, and a chair collapsed under our 4-year-old girl. Its screw scratched her back. The sidewalk hadn't been salted either, and the neighbor bringing us the key nearly fell. We arrived at 4 o'clock and had reported that twice during the day, yet the key only reached us at 5, brought over by the neighbor after an hour of waiting and running around. The owner said he'd be there within half an hour. After waiting more than two hours, we finally headed to a restaurant. Once we got there, he called to say he had arrived and asked us to come back at 7:30 to go over the details.

The shower didn't work as it should because the water wouldn't switch to the shower setting. In the morning the electricity went out, and the gas stove had no gas, so breakfast was canceled too. Check-in was awkward. We had to call the owner's Hungarian operator number, and luckily some people already staying there told us we needed to go to reception, which was nine houses away.
