Flamingo Vendeghaz

A pretty ordinary place.

The only good thing was the low price. Our first room was bad, and we weren't happy with the replacement either. It was all worn and stained: food marks on the TV, stains on the mattresses, and buildup along the toilet rim. There was an extra sponge layer on the mattresses that was terribly uncomfortable, so I chose to sleep on the cigarette-burnt sofa instead. We were put in an attic room, but had to pay extra for the air conditioning. The kitchen was shared and relatively acceptable, though not clean, and there was a strange smell in the building. The jacuzzi was terribly expensive, and the Wi-Fi was unusable.

The welcome was a nice touch: they gave us two 2 dl servings of wine when we arrived, which was very kind. But our room hadn't been vacuumed. There were peanuts, cookies, pistachios and other leftovers from the previous guest around, plus hair along the sink. They vacuumed after we asked, though the pistachio shells were still there.

The guesthouse is close to the city center, and the shared kitchen and sitting area make it easy for guests to spend time together. The host also offered a welcome drink, a thoughtful gesture. We saw one of the two-bed rooms too, and it looked much roomier and more comfortable than our ground-floor room for four, which felt cramped. The lighting was a bit too cozy, and noise carried through, though we did manage to sleep. Also, payment was cash only. I’d give it three stars for those reasons, but the welcome and the nicer room I saw account for my four.
