Thermal Park Hotel Egerszalók

We camped here for two nights, and the building work didn't bother us. Once it's finished, the place should be lovely. Some of the pool areas could use a bit of care, but at this price I'm not complaining. Everyone on staff we met was very friendly. The location worked well for us too, with a very good cycle path into town.

We didn't stay at the hotel or campsite, just came to relax in the thermal baths, and were very disappointed. One bath was out of use and its water was completely green. The other two were just about okay, but old, with pool tiles and outdoor areas badly in need of renovation. Weeds were growing all through the paving, and the sunbeds were old. The whole place looked worn. The outdoor shower didn't work, and the indoor one had no soap. The sauna cabin was fine, but the steam room was weak. I wouldn't recommend coming until the baths are renovated. It's a shame, because this could be a really nice place to relax.

The flat pitches make for a lovely camping spot beside Nostalgia Strand Furdo, and some have plenty of shade. The facilities were clean, but one men's and one women's toilet and shower aren't enough if the site is full. Public transport to Eger is good. We'll use it again, since Nostalgia is our favourite thermal pool complex in Hungary.

The location is pretty good, a short way from town and the larger spas. Food and service at breakfast and dinner were very good, with tasty dishes and a nice wine selection. The staff were kind. The rooms feel dated, though, and the beds were quite uncomfortable. There's a small toy corner for younger toddlers, plus a playground and trampoline outside for bigger kids. The spa was nice, but the kids' pool wasn't working. I didn't try the sauna or steam room. Campers behind the hotel could be loud, though thankfully they quieted down at 10pm. The windows don't have mosquito nets.
