We were unable to arrive by 6 pm, and only on the day we were due to leave were we told about the accommodation we'd booked.

Dear Owner, after I reviewed the room's cleanliness on Booking.com, you used my personal details and phone number to contact me by SMS and message. As you put it, "You shouldn't rate me, you should call me!!" Dear Owner, finding weeks' worth of dust on the dressing table and bed frame isn't my job to report. It wasn't from the air conditioning installation that day. Checking the room is your responsibility, or the responsibility of whoever you've assigned to do it. Should someone only come with a cloth and wipe things down after we complain? We've stayed in all sorts of places, from guesthouses to 5* hotels, and have NEVER had an unfriendly private message like this. That's what reviews are for. You should learn from them, it's never too late!!!

The owner kept contradicting himself, and the whole process was difficult and unfair. I booked the four-person room for three people in a phone conversation, then confirmed it in writing. Late that evening, he only wrote that he thought we'd be better off in a two-person room. When we arrived the next day, he gave us a double room, which I'd specifically said wouldn't work for us. He claimed our original room had meanwhile been booked on Booking, but hadn't bothered to tell us any of that beforehand. He said he had so many businesses in town that he couldn't keep up with everything. The bathroom was especially messy and dirty. We had to find somewhere else to stay. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

We couldn't check in. Our Booking reservation said the accommodation was available until 18:00, but the owner wouldn't accept the half-hour delay we warned him about because of a motorway traffic jam. He said he had other businesses and couldn't work out any solution. I'm an entrepreneur too, and I'd suggest he stop trying to run this kind of business. I don't recommend it.
