It’s a lovely place.

Kisszárcsa guesthouse turned out to be a real little gem. We found all sorts of thoughtful details that made it feel like a home, from the pictures and furniture to the front café, which doubles as a library and children’s kitchen. The living room is tastefully done, and there are several kitchen areas beside it. It felt like staying in a real home, as if a distant friend had invited us to spend a few days. The sauna and hot tub mentioned in the confirmation were actually there, which surprised us. A cheerful, helpful woman had answered the phone and made arrangements for our six-month-old baby. When we arrived, we saw just how lovely the house was. We’d been looking for an inexpensive apartment in Gárdony, expecting something crowded and basic, with just a kitchen, bathroom, and bed, as workers’ hostels often are. So we hadn’t started out with high expectations. There’s an open-air museum at Dinnyésen Castle in the neighboring village. I’d recommend this place for an adventure day with small children. Agárd beach is also nearby. Dear Emőke Ritter, thank you for having us.

We stayed two nights with my elderly dog, my little boy, and my brother. It’s dog friendly and met all our needs, with a super cozy feel. The kitchen, terrace, dining room, and grill area are fully equipped, so you just need to bring the ingredients to cook, grill, or stew. I loved the room’s style, and would definitely recommend the place. It’s in a great location, spotlessly clean, attentive to every detail, and very welcoming to guests.

We booked the guesthouse for two or three days with a family group of 11, planning to celebrate our mother’s birthday. We weren’t told that two rooms were rented long term. Only later, when we mentioned that one extra person would be joining us, did the owner share this “small” detail. We were unhappy about it, especially as this was a birthday gathering. The owner said she was understanding and accepting of the two residents and that it wouldn’t be a problem. She didn’t mention the Covid rule that would have refunded the amount paid so far if we decided it wasn’t suitable. Since we would have lost a lot of money and the event was only days away, we felt we had no choice but to go ahead. When we arrived, one tenant immediately laid down her rules, including that we shouldn’t use the jacuzzi after 10 pm because it bothered her. We accepted that and even invited her to our evening barbecue, but she had other plans and left. The other tenant was a very nice older woman, and there was no issue with her. At 2 am, the first tenant came back and started arguing with us. Only two of us were in the kitchen, packing up and washing dishes, but she raised her voice and woke the children in the group, shouting at us in the middle of the night. She left the next morning and sent the owner a text. We’d only ever spoken with the owner by phone, not met her. When she arrived, she didn’t introduce herself or listen to our side, and immediately turned on us. The house listing included a sauna and jacuzzi, but all she said was that she hoped we hadn’t used them. She made no effort to resolve things, saying the tenant was a long-term resident with psychological problems, then left. For the rest of the day, the “kind” tenant helped herself to quite a lot of the drinks we’d brought and kept in the freezer. Between the tenant’s behavior, the owner’s total lack of kindness and problem solving, and all the hassle, we won’t return or recommend it to larger groups. We only wanted to celebrate our mother’s birthday in a decent way, with older people, children, and pregnant women in the group. It’s not a cheap place either, especially considering all the trouble. The wooden stairs creak so loudly they make it hard to sleep, and the hairdryer in room 3 doesn’t work. Thanks, but we’ll NEVER do it again!
