We only came for Sunday lunch, so I can’t comment on the hotel or its rooms. The meal was tasty, with decent sized portions, and the waitress and waiter were both kind and polite. The place felt relaxed and warm, with a wooden ceiling and furniture that gave the restaurant a traditional hunting lodge feel. One thought, though I’m no chef: maybe the garlic soup could use something extra, like pumpkin seeds on top.

Getting a taxi in the morning was a mess. The phone connection was bad, and no taxis could be reached by call, so we had to use an app. The owner had said she’d help, but just gave us the app’s name, even though several guests needed taxis. We ended up sorting it out ourselves. At night I couldn’t sleep because the hallway was so noisy, and it seemed to be hotel workers making the noise, not other guests. The elevator was out of order, card payment wasn’t possible, and our room smelled musty and badly needed fresh air. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again. I hope people read this and choose somewhere else, even if it costs more.

The sheets had blood stains, toilet paper wasn’t replenished, and our towels were never changed during our two weeks there. The room cleaning was rubbish and below any standard. “Superior” rooms were just standard ones, and the room card sometimes failed to lock the door, which didn’t feel safe. The internet was okay, but kept disconnecting from the router. Food was below average, and they rip you off with restaurant tips. The staff seemed paid not to smile. The owner lives there and struck me as one of the cheapest people I’ve met, and that shows in the service. Asking for anything made me feel like I was bothering them, and I got the same feeling from the staff. A Mickey Mouse business, like Faulty Towers. Try to avoid this place!

The rooms were clean, and you look out over the lake, which seems to be a popular summer spot. The beds and pillows were really uncomfortable, and breakfast was just okay. It’s 39 kms from Budapest city center, where we were meant to be staying, so what a shame our tour operator booked us here. This is more of a B&B or motel for an overnight stop.
