Elizabeth Hotel

We loved staying at Elizabeth Hotel, right by Gyula Castle. It mixes an old castle feel with a modern setting, and the room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. Breakfast was plentiful, dinner was delicious, and the desserts were so good, almost like pastries from a bakery. The wellness area has four kinds of saunas, three kinds of jacuzzies, and a swimming pool. The main sights are all about a five-minute walk away: Gyula Castle, Almásy - Castle, and Gyula Thermal Spa. Almásy - Castle has interactive exhibitions that make it especially interesting, and the thermal water is unusual, brown in color, and said to be good for your health. Százéves Cukraszda is reachable in about 15 minutes. Gyula is a beautiful town, and I’d recommend both it and Elizabeth Hotel.

Everything was nice and clean, including the bathrooms, and the hotel is close to all the important places. The beds were much too soft, though. The springs seemed old, and I woke up with back pain every morning. Breakfast was tasty and there was enough of it, but it felt repetitive. From a four-star hotel, I expected better. I still highly recommend this hotel.

The wellness spa was 10/10, and the half-board meals were delicious with a nice variety. Breakfast at the buffet was really nice too. The rooms were clean and pleasant, with spacious, well-equipped bathrooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are parking spaces, a gym area, and a bar, and the prices are fair. The view is nice as well.

We stayed for a long weekend. The reception team were professional and friendly, and the place feels smart, with good quality decor. Our room was spacious and clean. The small spa should be a quiet haven, but other guests made that difficult with their behavior. Staff didn't step in, so my husband had to ask a young boy to stop jumping in the pool while we were in it. The food was okay, though I expected more since the hotel takes pride in its kitchen. Breakfast was good, not excellent. The orange juice wasn't great quality or 100%, and the coffee was borderline. At busy times, staff struggled to manage breakfast. There weren't enough tables, so we had to share one, while another guest had to wait. At dinner, the waitress didn't really know the wine selection, and the wine wasn't cold enough. They sorted that out by bringing us an ice bucket. A few small hiccups, but I’d say it was good value for money.
