Hotel Aurum

The staff were very helpful and willing to work around my needs. They spoke English, which was a big help since I don't speak Hungarian. I was only there for two nights and managed just one spa day, but I slept well in a comfortable bed and the soundproofing seemed good. The food was really good too, though my breakfast eggs were a little cold. I felt great during the stay and would come back another time.

I've been coming to Hungary regularly for around 20 years, so this isn't a first visit reaction. We paid over 2K Euros for a week in August 2023 and expected service to match that price. Instead, our all-inclusive breakfasts and dinners were often unpleasant. With so few staff, I regularly had to clear my family's table and carry the plates away to make room for dessert. Some staff seemed apathetic or belligerent. One slammed our drinks down after getting the order wrong, and another burst into tears when asked where the bread was. I don't blame the staff themselves. They seemed overworked and under pressure. Management chose to cut staffing, apparently to save money amid high energy bills, and to use untrained staff during the busy summer season. The restaurant also didn't provide free water with dinner, so we had to buy drinks to have anything with our food. For an all-inclusive stay, that felt mean and penny-pinching. This may be a four-star hotel, but the miserable restaurant service I experienced felt barely one-star. Disappointing.

Right in the centre of the tourist area of Hajduszoboszlo, near the bus station. The rooms were spacious, and both the food and wine were very good. Staff spoke English quite well. I didn't try the spa or wellness facilities this time, maybe next time. A very nice place.

The medical services were excellent, and the staff were polite and helpful. We liked the room, bed, and bathroom, and the location is stunning. Half board got a bit tedious after a while, though. Coffee was good and breakfast was okay. At dinner I would have preferred more cheese and cold food instead of so much pre-warmed food, but that's personal.
