Beautiful hotel.

The room came with a kettle, instant coffee, tea, and mineral water, which was a plus. For the price, it’s still one of the better-value options around. I’ve stayed at wellness hotels for about 15 years, and I’m sorry to say that other hotels usually do much more with similar facilities. The two-night, three-day wellness package is really two nights with just one day of spa access. You have to pay extra to use the spa before the 2 p.m. check-in or after the required 11 a.m. checkout. I haven’t encountered that at other hotels, and it feels like a marketing mistake for the sake of a few thousand forints. Having to leave the pools at 5:30 p.m. is odd, too. The maid woke me at 8:30 a.m. I told her I wasn’t available, but she knocked again five minutes later. At breakfast, I politely asked a server for juice because it had run out. She told me in a scolding tone that I had to wait until it ran out, which is exactly what had happened. Her rudeness made me uncomfortable. The two female servers weren’t discreet while setting tables either, and I could clearly hear them muttering indignantly about someone or something. Dinner was poor on the first night. The tripe stew was tasteless and stringy, with thin liquid instead of gravy and no proper main portion. The other two meat dishes and the fried potatoes were cooked so dry they seemed to jump off the plate when I tried to cut them. The fish soup on the second night was okay, and the meat dishes were better. Breakfast was average, maybe a little below that.
