Fenyő Panzió

We left without eating because the service was so rude. The waiter dropped off the pizza without a greeting, didn’t ask what we wanted to drink, and rolled his eyes when I asked what was available. He snapped, “Shall I list the menu?” When I said the service wasn’t okay, he replied, “I was wondering if they want ketchup?” The waiter was also unkempt. I can’t comment on the food.

After coming here for almost twenty years, this was our last visit. The park-facing rooms were occupied by workers, so we got a room on the other side, which stayed in the sun until sunset. They cut the grass without telling us, and by evening the clippings had dried all over my car. I have nothing against the workers, but the place has been turned into a workers’ hostel. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

We were a group of nine for dinner, and the evening ended with the lights being switched off while we were still there. A few minutes after 10, with other customers still in the restaurant, they cut the electricity without warning. The waiter then said we could stay five more minutes, in the dark and with no more orders. I understand it was closing time and the staff might have been tired, but this felt humiliating and undignified. We’d already been seated next to strangers, and my partner and I were told we had just two minutes to choose a pizza, so we picked without looking at the menu. I ordered grilled chicken breast and was shocked by the price: almost 3000 forints for paper-thin meat slices, a few fries, and some salad. The pizzas were fine. The couple beside us eventually moved away, probably tired of our company, and we tried to enjoy dinner. Then at quarter to ten we were asked if we could pay. We’d tried to adapt to the place and avoid tension, but the whole experience was poor. Overpriced food, poor service, and no focus on customers. I don’t recommend it.

The guesthouse itself was a bit better than the restaurant service, but after nearly two weeks there, our room was never cleaned, the trash wasn’t taken out, and the two hand towels supplied as towels weren’t changed once during our 11 days. Breakfast was disappointing too. Tea came in a prepared jug, like at daycare, though staff could have offered hot water and tea bags so everyone could make it as they liked. My cold plate had four slices of salami, four slices of pizza ham, and four slices of pizza cheese that wasn’t fit to eat. Our dinners averaged below sufficient. The waiters’ attitude, gloomy disgust, and clothing, including an outstretched teddy bear, were also insufficient. I could say more, but in short, avoid this place as much as possible.
