Nefelejcs Hotel

For 90 euros, I expected more basics. There were no slippers, shower gel, or shampoo, and each person got one towel. One was white and fairly new, the other was quite grey. The minibar was empty and there was no drinking water in the room. I could hear the TV next door, and the internet was very slow, around 2 Mbit/s.

The lobby and restaurant looked quite nice, and breakfast was okay, though there was no baking or other sweet item to have with coffee. I also didn’t feel warmly welcomed, and the lobby plate giving Nefelejcs hotel 9.5 points for its services seemed exaggerated, to put it mildly. The suite had two things going for it: it was spacious and air-conditioned. The lighting was dim, the mattresses were worn, and the pillows were a complete disaster. Cigarette-burnt curtains and a shabby bathroom made things worse. If you’re after snow-white sheets, this isn’t the place. The hotel is about two minutes from the local thermal pool. In the evening, people in the surrounding rented houses played loud music for a long time. The spa may explain the fairly high price, especially for a place this remote.

The staff were all kind, but fewer than half spoke English. Breakfast tasted good, though you have to give a day’s notice if you want supper. In the room, the shower cabin and fridge were broken, and there were only three towels for two adults and a child. The air conditioning didn’t work properly either, just on or off, with no way to set a temperature.

We only stayed for one night, but were happy with the service. The staff spoke English, and the room was clean, nice, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was included, and they accepted credit cards. It’s a small town and the hotel is in a very quiet spot, so you’ll like it if you’re looking for silence.
