Zsory Liget Hotel & Spa

It's been closed for over a year while being refurbished. It looks good, though. Maybe it's some kind of EU grant scam.

There's not much variety in the food, though most of it was tasty.

The staff are really nice, and the sauna is good. The wellness area is okay if you overlook the tiles coming loose everywhere and the pool stairs that seem close to falling apart. The hotel itself is nice, but the rooms feel like they're from 1975. Our so-called double bed was two single beds pushed together with a huge gap in the middle. Showering was a struggle: the shower head kept falling off its holder, the cabin wouldn't close, and there was rust everywhere. Even things like the doorknob look worn out. The hot tub didn't work. The buffet had about three courses, and if you're at all picky or have allergies, there may be nothing you can eat. A pina colada costs 4000 HUF, and the coffee was undrinkable. It's not peaceful either, with dogs barking at 7am and kids yelling. The hotel is on the edge of town, near old, run-down houses, and next door they dry underwear on the fence. It's close to the center, but parking means either leaving the car on the street partly in a ditch or paying 2000 HUF per day, which wouldn't be a big issue on its own. That's why it gets two stars.

A group of around 100 people had just checked in when we arrived, so we were left waiting for quite a while. Our room had only been set up for one person, and even after some back and forth we didn't get towels until the following morning.
