The spare toilet paper in the bathroom was damp, stiff, and reddish, so bring your own. The carpet had a musty smell and the air in the room wasn’t pleasant either. The bed was too soft, and the sheets felt rough against my skin. In the kitchen there was only one serrated knife. The long bench at the table seemed flimsy, so anyone over 70 kg should sit down carefully.

The rooms were very cold, and there wasn’t much helpfulness. They have central heating here, and we were told to keep the doors closed. Payment was cash only.

Fine for a night. Just keep in mind that the shops are closed until 8 p.m., and you can find good food in the old town.

We never stayed, so I couldn’t rate the place on Booking, and it wasn’t really our fault. We booked on the 12th for four people in their twenties for New Year’s Eve. We’re not into big parties or the usual New Year’s programs. For years we’ve spent it with a small group of friends, chatting, having at most a few glasses of wine, and toasting with champagne at midnight. That had never caused a problem before. After we booked, the host called to say renovations might mean we couldn’t come. On the 30th, when he hadn’t called again, we rang in the afternoon to check. The woman didn’t seem to know what we meant at first. Once we explained, she said the “renovation” was still happening. Later she said we could come after all, but her partner might check on us at any time because there were four of us on New Year’s Eve. She said we couldn’t bring more people than we’d declared, questioned how hard it would be to clean if we had a party, and said she was struggling to decide whether to rent us the apartment. The advertised price was 25,000, but she said New Year’s Eve would cost 55,000, including 30,000 for cleaning the next day. Does that mean there’s no cleaning the next day outside New Year’s Eve? After that, we had no intention of going. We’ve never had such an unfair experience. Their concerns might be understandable these days, but they should have told us on the 12th if they weren’t going to rent to us, so we wouldn’t have had to count on the booking. If you’re young, don’t book here! Apparently you’re automatically a hooligan who’ll bring at least 20 people, and they can turn up whenever they like to check you’re behaving and ask you for money. :) We’ll never consider booking here again.
