Traffic in Germany and Austria kept us from reaching the accommodation. We contacted the property on our check-in day, explained what had happened, and asked to move the date, but the owner refused. Our request for free cancellation was ignored too. It felt like charging us despite providing no service mattered more to this establishment than its reputation or showing even a little flexibility, especially with Christmas coming.

After one night there, I still hadn’t slept. The bed was bad, with polyester sheets, a soft uncomfortable mattress, and a limp sponge blanket and pillow. There was barely any light in the bathroom, and I couldn’t see a switch for the bedside lamps. The hosts seemed to have missed the basics of hospitality. I packed up, drove to the next parking lot on the highway, and managed half an hour of sleep in the car, just enough to keep going to my next destination. Avoid it!

The service was really friendly, and the location is excellent. Rooms are dated, but fine for a night, and parking is inside the house. About a 20-minute walk away, beside a river, there’s a very good restaurant. The pictures are from this venue. Absolutely worth a stay.

The beds were very comfortable, and the shower was superb. Our room was really clean and had air conditioning, so we loved staying here. A jug for making tea or coffee would’ve been nice, but we still enjoyed our stay.

Walking around the very green garden with a mug of coffee was lovely. Lunczer Panzio feels peaceful and comfortable, and coming through the front gate was like stepping into a sanctuary. It was extremely clean and felt like home. We’ll definitely be back. Just watch out for the pizza establishment at the end of town, they tried not to give us 2,000 florins (£6.50) change! Otherwise, it’s a very nice town and a lovely place to stay.
