Pangea Hotel

The room felt a bit dated and was on the small side. There also wasn’t any cleaning on the second day, which surprised us. The staff were pleasant and polite, though. We’d booked for two adults and a baby and had said we needed a baby bed, but it hadn’t been set up when we arrived. They said there wasn’t a spare one, then bought a new one; the receptionist didn’t realize it also needed a blanket, pillow, and extra towel. The breakfast was good, and the setting was nice. It’s a good location for visiting the zoo.

This was my worst hotel stay in Hungary so far. The staff were polite and the location was good, but the place felt like money had been put into making it look nice ten years ago and nothing had been maintained since. In our two-room family suite, the broken mosquito screen door kept slamming against the balcony door in the wind and woke me repeatedly. The damage looked weeks or months old, yet apparently nobody had reported it. To their credit, the kind staff removed it, so I had a better morning the next day. The ten-year-old faux leather sofa was also worn and looked like it had never been maintained. On our last morning, an unsecured wooden panel from the top of an interior door frame fell onto our friends’ daughter while she was playing with our kids. It was a shocking, almost horror movie moment for us and the hotel staff. The restaurant was awful too. I ordered sous-vide duck and got something like a boot sole, completely inedible. The restaurant across the street is great, so go there instead. For what they charge, this hotel is hugely overpriced.

Clean, quiet rooms with tea and coffee, and a nice crew. Breakfast was poor, with a small selection. I’d recommend it for a short stay.

The place by the park is beautiful, and the room was nice and spacious. Breakfast could use some improvement.
