We never got to stay, so I can only give one star. If I could, I'd give minus 15. I work in catering too, and from the start I told the lady we were four people driving from Transdanubia, about four hours away, and that we could only leave after work. She said that was no problem, so we ended up leaving later than planned. I hadn't given an exact arrival time because I couldn't know it in advance, but I thought a later arrival could sometimes be accommodated, especially since we'd pay. Once we were about halfway there, I messaged with our arrival time. She kindly replied that her working hours ended at 8 and said it was irrelevant on her part. We could have understood that and even managed one night in the car. What felt very unprofessional was that we couldn't book the accommodation for the next morning either. Given the other reviews, I'm almost grateful it worked out this way.
The place is close to the city center and has good parking, but the building was terribly dirty, with dust everywhere, especially on the wall frames. The shower and bathroom were dirty too. We were six guys, and when the owner asked if we'd party, we said no. We didn't. We came back in the evening, talked and laughed, then at 1 a.m. he suddenly came into our room. As soon as we knocked, he opened the door and walked in. He said our conversation counted as a party and had to stop immediately, threatening to throw us out and saying we'd have to sleep on the street. Of course, we didn't get a bill.
I needed a place urgently in Nyíregyháza. The online listing showed a single room for 4,000 forints, but the owner said those were sold out and offered a double room for 6,400 forints a night. I felt I had no choice, so I took it. The room was acceptable, but everything else was horrible. Nothing seems to have been renovated since the 80s, and the refrigerators were rusty. There was limescale on the bathtubs, washbasins, and sinks. The toilet paper was left by previous guests, not fresh rolls, and was the cheapest kind. The towel, a thousand-year-old rag that had clearly seen a lot, wasn't even in the room. It was downstairs in the hallway, where anyone entering the stairwell could take it. There are two bathrooms, but I got hot water for just one minute. I let it run for 10 minutes, and it stayed ice cold. Worst of all, some previous guest hadn't used the toilet brush properly, and a piece of shit was stuck in the toilet. Who knows how long it had been there. Never coming back!
We only stayed one night. We asked for two beds and got three, but the room smelled terrible even with the door open. The kitchen and bathroom seemed not to have been cleaned at all. They had the worst toilet paper, men's shower gel instead of soap, and no towels. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
