Hotel Laterum

There was a cool pool and a hot tub, plus free breakfast. Dinner was $18 for all you can eat. Everything was decent and good. Very nice for this area, and I’d visit again.

The hotel isn’t especially close to the city centre, though you can take public transport or walk if you’re up for a long one. We enjoyed the wellness and spa, and breakfast was great, well prepared and delicious. The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were nice, spoke either English or German, and always tried to be as helpful as possible.

The spacious rooms are a strong point. They’re a bit older but well maintained, and the size and functionality made them comfortable to stay in. Hotel Laterum in Pécs is a solid option, though some facilities could use an update. The spa centre was okay, but the pool water really needs to be warmer to make it more comfortable and enjoyable, especially outside summer. Breakfast was also okay, with a decent selection. The beverage machine wasn’t working properly, and there was no salad, but the breakfast service was satisfactory overall.

The gym was super clean and had most of the equipment. Breakfast also had lots of options, savory and sweet, including cold meats, cheese, yoghurt and cereal. The wellness area was very clean, with three different saunas and two pools. I’d recommend going in the early evening when it’s less crowded. The staff, from reception through wellness and service, were very approachable. I booked a suite that was quite massive for one person. The picture shows only the room I chose to use, since a door at the back connected it to the other part of the suite. I guess that setup is good for a family of four or a group. There’s plenty of space, a fridge, cups and toilet essentials. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes from the centre by bus, with stops 5-7 minutes away, or 10 minutes by car. A couple of things were off. The restaurant normally closes at 10pm, but when I went at around 8:50pm, the guy said he’d closed the register. When I asked why, he said they didn’t have any more meals. I don’t know if they had premade food, but I found that a bit odd. The menu normally has lots of choices, though it was all right. On the first day, as I was leaving my room, the lady cleaning the opposite room told me to leave it open. I guess she wanted to clean it or change the sheets and blankets. But when I came back, it looked exactly as before, and it stayed that way for the whole visit. I told her and reception on the first day that the toilet light wasn’t working. They both said yes, but the bulb was never replaced, so I used a lamp from the room and plugged it in the toilet. There was AC in the room, but no remote. My friend had the same issue in a different room. Even with a few negative points, I still highly recommend it.
