Spirit Hotel Thermal Spa

The hotel itself left us very satisfied, though the spa had some downsides. No one told us before arrival that one of the pools would be out of order during our stay. With the price we paid, clearer communication and perhaps a small goodwill gesture, like coffee and cake at the pool bar, would have been appreciated. We heard other guests mention it too. We also found the sauna area cramped, and some of the floors in the saunas were damaged. A few spots looked as if there could be mold, though we really hope that wasn't the case. There are only three “Infusions” each day, which is understandable with just one large sauna for them, but it drew a crowd and sometimes felt uncomfortably packed. The sauna section's outdoor area is closed in winter, and having it open would have made the small indoor space more pleasant. A heads-up for future guests: the hotel is on the expensive side. The thermal spa bar costs quite a bit, and the little extras add up. Our €620 booking came to €730, even without alcohol or spa treatments.

After more than 15 years of returning to Spirit Hotel Thermal Spa, the place has become part of our tradition. We've watched other hotels and spa ideas come and go, while Spirit has remained our standard for what a thermal spa hotel should be. As Diamond members, we value the consistency, atmosphere, and trust as much as the luxury. It feels familiar every time, but never dull, and we feel recognized and appreciated as returning guests. The spa still has its magic after all these years. Its thermal and wellness area is the heart of the hotel, with a thoughtful layout, a calm atmosphere, and a good range of pools and wellness spaces. We can spend whole days slowly moving between warm water and the sauna world without feeling rushed or overstimulated. The place feels serene rather than loud or touristy, and the thermal water has always felt restorative to us. Spirit doesn't chase trends or remake itself in a disruptive way. It changes carefully and keeps the hotel's character, focusing on wellness, quiet, balance, and quality. That approach is why we still feel it delivers what it promises after all this time. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable, just right for resting after a long spa day. Some of the unrenovated rooms have a more classic style than the renovated ones or newer hotels, but they aren't worn out, uncomfortable, or neglected. The newer rooms feel more contemporary, while the older ones still have the calm, cozy atmosphere Spirit is known for. There's a quiet professionalism in how guests are treated, without exaggerated luxury behavior or forced friendliness. One minor drawback is that not every staff member speaks perfect English. Spirit feels familiar, reliable, and genuinely restorative to us. We'll keep coming back, as we have for over 15 years.

The hotel is nice, though it's in the middle of nowhere. Thursday was fine, but by Friday the weekend crowd had picked up. We went to join a sauna ritual and found the sauna full, with no room left. There's no pool with strong mineral thermal water either. And after paying €400 a night, being charged another €6 per night to park in an uncovered space outside the hotel felt ridiculous. The duty manager wouldn't waive it, so I said I'd leave a one-star review. Here it is. Good luck, and I doubt we'll return!

The restaurant was the real highlight. We had probably the best buffet food of the past year there. The spa is huge and clean, and the rooms are spacious and clean too. After seeing quality slowly decline at many spa hotels in Austria, this hotel was a total surprise. There are also eight EV chargers out front.
