Berg Panzió

The room was small but adequate, and the shared bathroom was clean. I was the only guest, apparently, so the place felt unexpectedly empty and quiet, a bit eerie. I’d pictured somewhere lively with a bar and restaurant, but it seems both were closed. I don’t know why or for how long. When I first stopped by around noon, since I’d arrived early, nobody was there. A young man welcomed me later, and we managed to communicate with Google Translate. In the early morning I left the key in the mailbox and headed off toward livelier places.

There’s a shared fridge in the hall, and the bar is open in the morning for coffee and again in the evening. The restaurant isn’t operating, apart from breakfast, but the town center is walkable and you can order food or bring some back. The panzió can provide plates and cutlery. My room had no table or chair, though I could work remotely from the bar. Wi-Fi worked well downstairs but didn’t reach room 4. The code written in the room was wrong, so I had to ask at reception. The shared bathrooms and showers were clean. And there’s a random window between room 4 and the laundry room, one of those funny architectural features you come across in Hungarian buildings!

The drinks are good, and the food is okay, though the portions are small. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I’m not sure whether they spoke English. The berg panzio is an amazing place.

There’s parking, and both the rooms and bathroom inside were clean. It’s a good place to stay when you’re in this city.
