A simple, cozy place with its own pool and lots of parking. Recommended. The beds and pillows could be more comfortable :)

I've stayed here three times now, and I don't think this will be my last visit. The rooms have basic furnishings but everything you need, and there's a big terrace to hang out on after swimming in Balaton. It's a good hotel with a really nice pool.

Cockroaches! We spent three horrible nights here. On the evening we arrived, a large one appeared on the wall and jumped onto my head. We checked under the bed and found more. When we rushed to reception and asked to change rooms, the man said he didn't understand English, maybe some German, and that changing rooms wasn't an option. We showed him a photo of the cockroach and the Hungarian word for it, csótány, which might be useful to remember if you ever stay at Doris hotel in Siofok. The man and woman at reception just smiled knowingly. The woman brought out Raid, a well-known insect spray, and hurried to our room. She looked around as if we were lying, then one csótány ran out from under the bed. She caught it easily, said “no problem,” sprayed the room with toxic spray, and left us there with the insects. That chemical smell was what we'd noticed when we first entered. Room service sprayed more Raid every day, and the smell became almost unbearable even with the windows wide open. The hotel was built in the mid-1970s and hasn't been renovated since. It looks just as old as you'd expect, with visible mold on the outside, filthy, dated furniture in the rooms, and ruined bathrooms. If you're unafraid of cockroaches, want to learn the useful Hungarian word csótány, and don't mind the smell of strong insect spray, perhaps Doris hotel in Siofok is for you. It also gives you a look at how our ancestors chose to live in the 1970s.

It's an easy walk from siófok railway station, and the hotel works well for a day or two near siofok beach. The service was great and the accommodation affordable.
