Reed Luxury Hotel & Bistro *****

The hotel was clean and nice, and the food was good. Staff seemed friendly, but most spoke little or no English, which made even basic communication pretty difficult. For a place in the tourism business, that really shouldn't be a problem. We were also charged around 37€ per night for our small dog, which felt steep compared with other hotels we've used, especially since dogs could only stay in the room and weren't allowed in the other facilities. In that situation, I'd rather a hotel didn't claim to be pet-friendly. A solid stay, but no more than that.

The place itself is lovely, but our doggie matters more to us, so as locals we'll find somewhere else for breakfast. We were turned away this morning after our walk and told dogs and kids aren't allowed in for breakfast. We'd brought our cockapoo in before without a problem. She's so well behaved and cute, which makes the change all the more upsetting. What changed?

It's hard to see what there is to fault here, so the one-star reviews astonish me. This fantastic boutique hotel was such a pleasant surprise by Lake Balaton. The rooms looked practically brand new, were beautiful and extremely comfortable, and the food was absolutely amazing. Staff were very friendly too. Service, food, and accommodation were all truly excellent, and I can strongly recommend the hotel. They even let us charge our electric car for free, something practically unheard of at a hotel this high class. Thanks again for making our stay so wonderful!

The room was nicely decorated, and we liked the amenities. We were a little concerned after reading so many negative reviews, but our stay was pleasant overall. The outdoor pool was closed because of the temperature, which was a shame, though we could still sunbathe outside. Dinner was fine for the price but nothing special; breakfast was okay, and it was nice to have it included. The staff were nice and the room was nice, but for a five-star hotel there's room to improve.
