Residence Hotel Balaton

When he asked where I was from, I said Spain and he doubled the price. I don’t understand why, but it seemed totally foolish to me. After that, I told him the price on Booking was half because there were no rooms left anymore.

The food was okay, though the choices were limited and breakfast was the same every day. Parking also cost 4000 huf for one night, which felt extremely expensive, and there was no free option. The hotel's little lakeside section is only about 4 m wide and outsiders can get in easily, so it doesn't feel private. The rooms were very worn, smelly, dirty, and cheaply appointed, far below what I'd expect from a 4 star hotel. Service was disappointing too: the staff seemed unethical and weren't very nice. The children's area was just a small, messy, dirty corner, and the wellness area could be larger. There was also a strong chemical smell there. I wish I could call it a nice place, but there are plenty of other hotels near bakaton lake. If you have a choice, don't pick this one.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel was clean, the food selection was good, and the wellness area was large enough. One suggestion: please provide drinking water in the saunas, since staying hydrated there is essential. Otherwise, everything was great, thank you.

The massage was a real highlight. The therapist was one of the friendliest people, and I can absolutely recommend him. The wellness area has several pools and saunas, though on Sunday, after most guests had checked out, the pool temperatures and the room temperature there were turned down too much. It felt cold. The rooms are very modern and well equipped, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious with plenty to choose from. I especially liked the homemade yogurt, marmalades, and meat cuts. This hotel really lives up to its 4* name.
