A fresh, clean, very nice apartment. It’s a little way from the town center, but still walkable. Highly recommend it!

We booked through Booking in January, specifically to stay during the harvest festival. The owner was friendly at first, but immediately raised the fixed price advertised on Booking, saying there was more demand during harvest. A month before the festival he called again to increase it, this time blaming suppliers, apparently. Then, two weeks before the festival, he asked us to cancel the Booking reservation so he wouldn’t have to pay the commission and we wouldn’t be able to complain or review on Booking. We went along with it and left the accommodation an 8-star review, out of considerable goodwill. A day or two after we posted it, the owner called to challenge us about how we dared to leave that review. The owner was extremely unfair, unpleasant and pushy, and the administration was poor. I can’t recommend this place in good conscience.

The rooms themselves are clean and nicely done, and the beds are comfortable, so the accommodation is good. What wasn’t okay was being put in a position where I felt I was helping with tax fraud, followed by the owner acting like an offended ex and trying to punish me with false claims over the phone. Here are the facts: nine of us stayed, but the owner asked for the ID of only one person, avoiding eight more tourist tax payments. I might have let that go, since I’m not NAV, but then he also changed the price and tried to get us to move the booking back onto booking.com so he could avoid the commission. Gábor, this isn’t the post-Kadárist Wild West of the 90s, where you could sort everything out with a clever workaround. It’s been 35 years. We have invoices, traceability and consumer protection now. After I press “Book,” I shouldn’t have to worry about whether there’ll be a room at the advertised price or whether I’ll end up in trouble with the authorities. I just want a relaxing weekend, if that isn’t too much to ask. Thanks for listening.
