We had the whole house for a family weekend, with all three rooms to ourselves. The woman who gave us the keys was really helpful and showed us around. There’s plenty of room, each bedroom has its own bathroom, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen has everything we needed, including a dishwasher, and there’s a big covered terrace with a table for six or seven, plus an outdoor barbecue. There’s also a little wine cellar stocked with local bottles. The one drawback was the lack of insect screens, so mosquitoes came in when we left the windows open. Tokaj wineries and the Zemplén castles are an easy drive away. It would suit a family or a group of friends for a week or two.

Even in the summer heat, the inside stayed pleasantly cool. It’s a traditional Hungarian house, with a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable bed.

We couldn’t get the Wi-Fi signal in our room, though we were told it would be fixed within a few days. Apart from that, the area was quiet, the bed comfortable, and the shared kitchen had everything we needed. The house still has its charm after a lovely renovation, and the owner was kind and flexible. Great value for the money, and I’d happily recommend it.

A charming little cottage, warm hospitality, and tasty treats from the oven. It’s a lovely way to get a feel for rural life and enjoy some peace away from the city. Great with family or friends, and I recommend it to anyone looking for that kind of break.
