Hotel Kelep

We spent one night here. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and breakfast was varied and well prepared. I liked the bathroom a little less, though it was equipped well enough. The main difficulty was speaking English. Only one receptionist and one waiter could communicate with us, and the waiter had to call the front desk for help. They were both nice and helpful once we understood each other. The room notes and instructions were all in Hungarian, apart from the emergency rules.

I booked Hotel Kelep today for May 3rd to May 5th, two nights, and received confirmation. The message said 50% would be charged after booking, and that the full amount would be charged if I didn’t show up. But when I arrived at 21:30, the hotel was closed. I rang the bell and called by phone, and a representative told me they wouldn’t open or heat the hotel just for me because I was the only guest. Nobody came to let me in, despite the confirmed reservation. I’m a professional driver and had planned to rest after a day of work. Instead, I was left outside, worried the hotel might still take my money. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. With Hungary’s 22:00 curfew, I’m now forced to wander around illegally to find somewhere to stay. I’ll make sure Booking is informed. If my card or account is charged, or the hotel causes me any further trouble, I’ll take legal action to the fullest extent.

A few hours before arriving, he asked whether there was parking for a bus, and the hotel replied that they would make space. Yet when he got there at 21:30, the hotel was closed. No one answered the door, and on the phone a representative said they wouldn’t open or heat the place just for one guest. No one came, even though the booking was confirmed. The confirmation said he’d be charged 50% after booking, and the full amount if he didn’t show up. With Hungary’s 22:00 curfew, he then had to drive around illegally looking for somewhere else to stay. He barely got any rest because he was frustrated and anxious after being left on the street like an animal. Stay away, there are plenty of other places nearby.

The location is beautiful, and having a balcony in every room is a great bonus. The rooms are reasonably clean and sensibly furnished. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
