The spa staff were kind and helpful, and the restaurant waiters were professional and pleasant. They were a bright spot in our stay. But several other parts didn’t meet what we expect from a 5-star hotel. Our room had dust on several surfaces, and even the pillows seemed to shed dust. Water also leaked beneath the bathroom sink around the faucet. Housekeeping didn’t come every day, although we left for the spa each morning by 11:00 AM. When they did come, the bedsheets still weren’t changed. At checkout, we reached reception at 12:10 PM and were charged 19,000 HUF for being ten minutes late, even though the official checkout time was 12:00 PM. That felt excessive and caught us off guard. If we’d known how strict it was, we would have spent more time at the spa instead. Update to reply: We had intended to use late checkout from the start and selected the service when booking. Still, at the front desk we were told checkout was at 12:00, with no alternative offered, as if our selection hadn’t been there. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 11:45, so it seemed they hadn’t been told about the late checkout. My wife tried the access cards 2-3 minutes after 12 to make sure we hadn’t left anything behind, but they were already deactivated. The late checkout service was nevertheless invoiced without hesitation. It seems the reservation and invoicing system isn’t aligned with operations and needs attention. We emailed the hotel staff about these concerns close to a week ago. For almost 7 days, they didn’t even bother to reply, acknowledge the message, or contact us. Things only started moving after this review went public.

We’d give the hotel 5 stars after a memorable two-night stay. The indoor heated pools and sauna made the spa especially relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast was a treat each morning, with plenty of different dishes, and dinner on our last night left a strong impression. Richie helped us choose food and wines, and his suggestions made the meal feel special. Richie was attentive from the moment we arrived, courteous, knowledgeable, and ready with useful information. Dana, the general manager, was also accommodating and brought youthful professional energy. The staff as a whole were warm and willing to help. The one thing I’d like to see added is a proper fitness center. A state-of-the-art facility would round out the hotel’s offerings.

The spa staff were great and the breakfast staff lovely, and the hotel itself really is nice. Still, Kira at reception was so rude and unprofessional to us for no reason that it spoiled the visit. She was there again when we left, leaving us with the same sour feeling. I wouldn’t recommend staying while she’s working. Or was it because we’re visibly Jewish that she treated us that way?

Breakfast and dinner were great, and every person we met was fantastic. Hospitality really seems to come naturally to them. A special shoutout to Istvan from the spa and to the GM Dana. We’ll definitely come back.
