Bock Hotel Ermitage

Villany is a beautiful region with excellent wines, and some of the staff were friendly and tried to make up for the lack of professionalism. Still, we weren’t very happy with the hotel overall. On our second day, the wellness area was small but clean and well maintained. When we asked for the sauna lights to be turned on, we had to go back to the reception, which is inside the restaurant, in our wellness clothes. Standing there in my bathrobe felt rather uncomfortable before anyone helped us. Meals were a repeated frustration: each time we went to the restaurant, we waited for the menu, the food, and the drinks, even when my partner and I were the only guests there. The food and drinks were subpar, and although staff were friendly sometimes, the service often fell short. The room was big enough for two, but its furniture and design felt average rather than premium. We arrived from Budapest in a great mood, and the receptionist greeted us kindly, but the stay didn’t live up to that start. Even so, it was a fun visit.

Several tasting options, attentive staff, and food that goes well with the wine make this a good place to eat and drink. The atmosphere is nice, and you can often meet interesting people from around the world. If you love wine, it’s a must. There are other similar cellars nearby too.

The massage was professional and relaxing, and the staff were always smiling and helpful with everything we asked. We stayed in the guest house down the road because the hotel was full by the time I booked. It worked out just as well, and we had the whole house to ourselves as a family. The hotel’s wine is naturally the main attraction. You can book a tasting in the restaurant, which I highly recommend, and visit the cellars too. I got to try a few delicious dishes from the menu, and the chocolate cake is amazing, definitely worth trying. There’s a wellness area as well, and this friendly place is perfect for a long weekend.

Bring mosquito repellent if you plan to sit on the terrace, or take our route and eat inside. My better half and I had a wonderful meal here, with excellent food, friendly staff, and good service. And of course, you’ve got to try at least a couple of wines from the winery.
