The garden was fantastic and clearly well looked after, with a large pool, and our room was spotless. The surroundings are beautiful and quiet. We’ve vacationed in plenty of places, but haven’t come across hospitality this sincere before. We’ll definitely return, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful break. Várszegi Family :)

We were a group of friends staying on a summer Friday, and although we left quite a bit of money for nine people, it didn’t feel welcoming. The host lives at the property, something we hadn’t seen stated, and was around whenever we were in the yard. That alone wouldn’t have bothered us, but we were told the pool could only be used until 7 pm and that we could talk on the terrace until 8. We were left sitting in complete darkness, with no garden lights to turn on. The next morning, before 7, the terrace had been cleared and our things, including sunscreen we’d left on the table, had been thrown away without asking. After we checked out, the host later suspected us of taking a room key, though he eventually found it. I don’t think someone with this attitude should be hosting.

The accommodation was beautiful and extremely clean, and the hosts were nice to us. Still, I came away with a bad experience. They’re expensive and seem to round things in their own favor. The price wasn’t worked out when we booked, but at the exchange rate when we stayed, which I’d say was more favorable then. I can also imagine they’d argue for the other option if that suited them. Great businesspeople! They also told us they don’t really welcome people who want to relax, preferring quiet, respectable guests who want to sleep and leave. There’s nothing wrong with that preference, but the marketing should reflect it. I don’t know many people who go to a spa or opera house to party and yell.

The house and grounds were beautiful, the pool and rooms were great, and everything was clean. We’d been cycling around Lake Balaton, covering over 100 km that day, and arrived about an hour late despite what we’d agreed. The host said this was because the World Cup had taken over his hospitality :) There was a definition of defamation from the Hungarian Criminal Code posted in the hallway, so I’ll stick to what happened. He didn’t say much to us, but after we came back from dinner, a draft slammed a door. He came upstairs, said the creaking was boring and annoying, then showed us how the door handle worked. Thanks! He didn’t come out in the morning, and we certainly won’t be saying goodbye. We later checked the reviews and thought there might be some truth to the negative ones. Our snowshoes were full of 100s and this one is still being clever..someone checked out early...I understand
