The Kuta family are warm and helpful, and the rooms are clean. From the balconies where you eat, the views are stunning. The woman of the house cooks delicate Balinese dishes when asked, while the “pater familias” knows the area well and has plenty of experience as a guide. You hear jungle sounds and everyday Balinese life as you fall asleep and wake up, with gekos, birds, and cicadas around. The homestay also leaves more jungle intact, since you can't see the house from across the valley, and staying here puts your money directly into the local economy. It's a peaceful way to experience Bali.

At Pondok Alam Bukit, breakfast came with fresh fruit, toast, a smoothie, and lovely frangipani flowers. It was a great start to the day. I also got a nice photo with the sweetest host family. Bali has stunning views, but the people make it feel even warmer. 🌼✨🌴💚

Ketut and Suki made me feel right at home. Suki prepares fresh, tasty food and has plenty of dishes to choose from. I think prices start at IDR75,000, with a banquet at IDR90,000. Dinner costs extra, but it's a really good, easy, affordable option instead of finding somewhere nearby to eat. Breakfast is served on your own veranda. The place is super clean and comfortable, a welcome haven for weary travellers, and just a stone's throw from Tirta Gangga. Use Google Maps rather than the Booking.com map. Matur suksma.

Ktuc and his family make you feel as if you've come home, and they'll help with whatever you need. The food is excellent and very Bali. It's a charming B&B with evening meals, a good place to chill, and Tirta Gangga is only a short walk away.
