We came hungry in the afternoon and ordered crispy duck, tempe mendoan, and spring rolls, but it had all sold out. That tells you how good it was, lol 😂. If you want to see real Bali culture, you have to visit this PALACE. Yes, it's inside the palace.

Tirta Ayu Restaurant is a hidden gem inside Tirta Gangga, with great food, breathtaking views, and an impressive atmosphere that takes you back to old Bali. I ordered duck and the sharing meal with lots of dishes, and had tempe mendoan as a snack. It's to die for 😂. As Indonesian, we know our tempe!!

The calm, comfortable feel at Tirta Ayu Restaurant stood out, and the place was spotless and well looked after. Even the traditional food was mild and balanced, so nothing felt too strong or spicy. We had the Nasi Goreng and chicken with veggies and mashed potatoes, both delicious, plus fries to share. Mango sticky rice and an affogato were lovely too. Regina ❤️ took great care of us, was friendly and kind, and spoke excellent English. She made us feel welcome right away.

The drinks were good, and the staff were welcoming with excellent service. The setting and view were beautiful too. We stopped for a quick lunch after a busy stretch of taking pictures and feeding the fish, but the food was disappointing. The nasi bakar and soto ayam were okay, just not spectacular. The green curry fish wasn't hot enough, and its vegetables were pretty dull. The nasi goreng rempah tasted mostly of kecap manis, with little spice, so it didn't feel special.

We especially liked the refreshing lemon and honey iced tea. The view across the whole water palace was stunning, and made the meal feel special. Tirta Ayu Restaurant was a peaceful, scenic place to sit and eat. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food was nice.
