The manager refunded the night, and the staff were kind when they were around, but the place as a whole is very poorly managed, through no fault of the staff. I left after one night instead of staying the week I’d planned. My villa faced a very busy main road, and the noise was intense. Nearby construction used power tools, and a Banja ceremony blasted karaoke through huge speakers until 4 a.m. I got no sleep. The rooms are attractive, but the claims that the villa is quiet, with only occasional traffic on a local road, just weren’t true for my room. Villas facing the rice fields in the other direction may be much quieter. If you need peace, getting one of those rooms seems essential. I arrived late and had to walk down a long, dark, uneven driveway without a light or help. No one had warned me, and I had a suitcase and several heavy bags. The couch outside my room was soaked from the ceiling dripping all night. There were large gaps in the bungalow ceiling, so it offered no protection from mosquitoes or noise. I also found mold in several places, even though I’d explained my serious health condition and asked about it before booking. Staff were often unavailable or not on site.

The quiet here made it easy to get away from the rush of daily life. I stayed at Rumah Tengah Sawah for a vacation, surrounded by rice fields and lovely scenery. The villa was clean, well cared for, and thoughtfully laid out, with a comfortable, charming feel. Even with that peaceful setting among the fields, it’s conveniently close to the city and nearby attractions. If you want nature and quiet without being too far from city conveniences, it’s a great fit. I can’t wait to come back!
