Sendowan Baru Amurang

It’s a peaceful place, but the pool is green and moss has spread around it. The pool photos look like they were taken ten years ago.

We had such a lovely time here, and really hope to come back. Thanks so much, Lydia and Alfred! The food was delicious, the grounds were beautiful, and the pool was lovely. It felt truly Indonesian and was absolutely worth the stop. It’s a nice place to pause, for example between Gorontalo and Tangkoko. We also enjoyed exploring the beautiful villages by car with Mexie and seeing the hot springs.

There’s a large, beautiful garden with a pool, right by a quiet stretch of beach, and the meals are excellent. It also makes a great base for trips around the Minahassa region, including Soputan volcano, Tomohon, the market and Lokon volcano, the museum, Tondano and its lake, and the waterfalls at Popotolon and Lopana. Near Amurang, Batu Dinding is worth a visit too, with a beautiful view over the fishing harbor from up at this terminal.

Lydia is a great cook, and the dishes she makes are delicious. The accommodation is good, in a beautifully landscaped garden with a pool, close to the sea. It’s a wonderfully relaxed place to stay. The drawback is the trip from Manado, which takes well over two hours by taxi.
