Mandala Desa Ubud

Getting around was easy thanks to the hosts, who communicated well and helped arrange transportation when we needed it. We also liked having a local market just a 10-minute walk away. The outdoor showers felt unusual, but there was still plenty of privacy. We spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool, and the WiFi worked excellently. The service was top-notch, and the horses around the property were lovely to see, even though we didn’t go horseback riding. My husband and I had a peaceful, relaxing stay. Thanks to our wonderful hosts, we’d highly recommend booking here!

We were sorry to leave after just three nights and would happily have stayed longer. Our villa was clean, roomy, and private, and Jan, his family, and the hotel staff were all so pleasant. The kids loved the horses and got to feed them, which was a real treat. We also made full use of the lovely swimming area, where staff brought us afternoon snacks and tea by the pool. Breakfast is included and has a good range of choices, especially handy if you're staying several days. We ordered dinner in the room too. There were plenty of options on the menu, and the prices were very reasonable. The bird park, reptile park, and zoo are nearby, but the attractions weren’t the only reason we’d return. We had a delightful time at Mandala Desa and would definitely stay again when we're back in Bali.

The resort has fewer than five rooms, which made it wonderfully quiet, and the staff made the stay feel personal. Yan (or Jan) gave us a warm welcome. Do contact them on WhatsApp before you arrive so they can get ready for you. We stayed in the second-floor villa, with a sublime view in the morning and birds singing in the background. Mandala Desa sits a little off the main road, so you'll need a car to eat out. We chose to have dinner at the resort instead, and it was excellent. Breakfast was lovely too, especially the fresh orange juice and great coffee. There are horses behind the resort, one of the highlights of our trip. Our kids enjoyed seeing them, though riding wasn’t an option. If you want a distinctive, peaceful place to stay, Mandala Desa might be just right.

We only booked two nights and wished we’d stayed longer. The rooms were comfortable, the gardens were beautiful, and there’s a great pool. The food was excellent and delicious, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner covered. Irma, Jan, and their crew were incredibly accommodating and made us feel right at home. They offered ideas for things to do and helped organise a tour of the surrounding village. That was a definite highlight of our trip.
