Hotel Edelweis 2 Bajawa

The balcony on the second floor has a terrific view across Bajawa town. Breakfast was satisfying, and the banana pancake was nice, though the watermelon had no taste. Guests can help themselves to water, coffee, and tea, and there's free WiFi, but the signal was weak in my room. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was cleaner than most of the guesthouses I stayed in around Flores. There's hot water, though with this kind of heater it lasts about five minutes, depending on how you use it.

The room looked okay at first, but the hotel feels neglected and worn down. The bathroom had mold and the floor was wet all over. I had to leave the tap running for at least five minutes to get hot water. The breakfast's supposed hot dishes were cold, as if they'd been made the day before, and the watermelon wasn't fresh either.

It's down a quiet lane away from the main road, with several restaurants within a five minute walk. We stayed two nights in June 2024, and paid 300,000 a night including breakfast, which felt like good value. This is really a guesthouse or homestay rather than a hotel, with the owners living in the adjoining building. Our room had a modern feel and was extremely clean. The beds were comfortable, the sheets and pillows were spotless, and even the small bathroom was clean. The shower had instant hot water. The two young women managing the place were very friendly and spoke excellent English.

A good, clean hotel with an alright breakfast. The staff were very polite and helpful, and helped me find a bus to my next destination as well as a guide for Mt. Inerie.
