Bakung Ubud Resort and Villa

When we reached villa no5, the door was already difficult to open and close. We were booked through our travel agent for three nights, but I felt I had to find different accommodation rather than leave my family there. The bedsheets had stains, the place felt dull, and there were no batteries for the TV. All the doors had airholes where creepy crawlies could get in, the wifi was practically non-existent, and dirty towels had been left on the bathroom doors, probably by the previous guests. We didn’t complain about anything. I’ve never seen a place like it, and it shouldn’t even be rated as three-star accommodation. Book at your own risk. That was my experience.

The staff were helpful and breakfast was OK, but the state of the rooms ruined our experience. Water leaked from the AC, there was dust and cobwebs on the walls, the bedding was dirty and smelly, and there was lizard shit everywhere. We were fooled by the good reviews. This resort is pathetic and doesn’t even deserve one star.

The place looks very nice from outside, and the room was good enough, but the walls need repainting and some areas need repairs. The bed linen and duvet looked old and dirty and need replacing, and the curtains looked like they’d never been washed. There weren’t many staff around. The amenities were fairly complete, with tissue and bath amenities, and the pool was OK. Breakfast was standard, served a la carte with no buffet.

I’m staying at Bakung Ubud Resort and Villas, Villa No. 3, and this has been one of my most frustrating stays in Bali. It feels unsafe and badly maintained. The villa phone didn’t work, and when the door got completely stuck I had to climb out through a window to get help. Doors jam repeatedly, one light is broken, the bedsheets are dirty and dull, and the wifi barely works. I complained about the wifi several times, but nothing was fixed. The AC in the upper room doesn’t work, so all four of us have had to sleep in one room. Housekeeping has been unreliable, towels weren’t replaced even after repeated requests, and the staff seemed careless and unfriendly. The new towels they gave us had visible hair from previous users, too. The food is tasty, but that doesn’t make up for all the problems and the unsafe conditions. Avoid this place. Safety clearly isn’t a priority, and the service is poor.
