The hot spring was the biggest letdown. It was barely warm, nowhere near the relaxing, therapeutic heat you expect from a proper hot spring. The staff had a schedule for filling and emptying the tubs and didn’t ask when we wanted to use them. We hoped to go at 3pm but were told to wait until 6 or 7pm. We’re paying guests and expected to use it when we wanted. The firepit was another disappointment: it’s a gas tank connected to a perforated pipe with rocks on top. The heat felt nice, but having the tank beside your feet looked unsafe. Staff also wouldn’t light it around lunchtime, when the flies in Kintamani were awful, and we didn’t want to be told when we could use it. Getting there was rough. The access road is narrow and hard on a car, and the front bumper could easily scrape. There’s space for two cars, but the staff motorbikes were often parked awkwardly in the guest spots. They repeatedly asked me to pull forward another 30cm even after we’d gotten out, although our position wasn’t blocking other cars. Parking seems difficult for an average driver. The room itself has a decent design, but basic details are missing or poorly done. There were no hand towels, shower or patio mats, drying rack, tables, wardrobe, or chairs. We ended up spreading our belongings on the floor. The small shelf and a few hangers were impractical, and the gap between the bed and wall was so tight we kept bumping into things. The doors didn’t seal properly, so other guests’ kids playing loudly at 7am woke us up. The sink and bathroom had cold blue lighting that felt like a hospital morgue, unlike the owner’s photos. There was an awful septic smell coming from the bathroom that filled the whole room. That alone is enough to keep me from coming back. The hotel has just one kettle to share among all the units, and doesn’t provide coffee, tea, or sugar for each night booked. There’s potential here, but too many details seem overlooked and it feels like the place opened too early. We’d rather pay a third as much for an average room and visit a proper hot spring than spend more here and be disappointed by nearly everything.
