Green Bird Villa

The nearby place we moved to was much nicer, and comparing its price with Green Bird Villa left me surprised at what Green Bird Villa charged. We had prepaid through Expedia for three nights because some friends planned to stay too, but their plans changed and there were just the three of us. We were traveling with our 18-year-old daughter. After only five minutes in the room, my family decided to leave, even though the booking wasn't refundable. The location was actually good, with a few small restaurants close and many Ubud sights within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and tried their best, but couldn't change the room's condition. We had a family room with four beds, two upstairs by a steep staircase. It was much smaller than the photos suggested and smelled musty as soon as we entered. The sheets felt damp and looked gray instead of clean white, the towels weren't clean, the bathroom light didn't work, and the tiled floor was in poor condition. The property had clearly seen better days. Management should properly dehumidify the rooms. Damp and mold are unhealthy, and other reviews mention this too. Clean sheets and towels are a basic requirement, and at these prices, that's the minimum standard. I don't understand the Google rating of 4.2. I'd say 2.5 out of 5 is more accurate. In Ubud, you can find much better and cheaper places in the same area, so it's worth looking around.

We stayed in central Ubud at a decent place, with a nearby supermarket and ATM and access to a larger pool at the neighboring hotel. Our family room, Nice, was spacious, with two single beds upstairs and a large double bed downstairs, along with the bathroom and utility room. There was no balcony, but the room looked onto a cute pool that got plenty of midday sun. The property seemed clean and well maintained. Check-in was quick, and staff helped with our luggage. They were young and spoke varying levels of English, but accommodated our dietary needs when we gave notice the night before. The road junction nearby is hectic, so plan to leave early or late for popular sights to avoid traffic. Our room had a serious hot water problem. The water stayed hot for only two minutes, then we had to wait 30-40 minutes for another two. The receptionist told us to wait, and there were four of us. After a few days, they let us use room 2 to shower.

The rooms all look out over the swimming pool, and the garden is so cute. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were really friendly and helped us rent a bike. This was the best hotel in Ubud for us, a peaceful place we were happy in and now sad to leave. 100% recommended 😍☺️🥹

We'd still come back for the amazing vibes, and the location is perfect. Decent restaurants, massage places, and other amenities are only a five-minute walk away. Staff are very friendly and accommodating within reason. Our bathroom was shabby and had moldy tiles, so it needs an upgrade. Breakfast service was inconsistent, with food sometimes arriving 10 minutes apart and leaving one person waiting. The old air conditioning in our room also needs upgrading, as we couldn't set it to a particular temperature.
