Warung Pulau Kelapa is just a few steps from Kori Ubud, and it was such a relief to find it open until 11pm after we arrived late. The wooden building faces the street, while the dining area further inside looks out onto lush greenery. Nearby, Neka Art Museum, Naughty Nuri’s ribs, and Putri Bali Spa are all within a five-minute walk. There are also boutiques and restaurants close by, a convenience store in front, and the Bintang supermarket within walking distance. We were four people staying three nights in two deluxe rooms. The small, charming hotel is peaceful, with rice field views and two lovely pools. The rooms are spacious and furnished elegantly. The owner seems to really appreciate art, and the paintings around the property are original works, not cheap reproductions. That’s rare at such a reasonable price.
We stayed in the villa for three nights, and breakfast was a complete letdown. The menu is big, but you’re only allowed three items, and even those portions are very small. You can’t eat as much as you want, so the whole thing feels restricted and unsatisfying. Breakfast should be a highlight of a villa stay, but this service was extremely poor and limited. I wouldn’t recommend this stay.
I’m loving my stay. The resort has everything you need, the facilities are great, and my room is huge and almost flawless. It’s close to amazing restaurants and spas, while sitting on the edge of rice fields. I’ve been to Bali 12 times and stayed in a ton of places, and this is a sweet spot. I’ve read a lot of reviews and feel terrible for this establishment when people who don’t understand Bali leave negative ones. First-timers and high-maintenance travelers seem to look for something to complain about. Heaven help anyone who has to travel with them. They shouldn’t carry weight in the review presses if they’re never satisfied and don’t know what Bali is about. They’re bringing the island down. Go to Nusa Dua!
We were after somewhere a little out of the way, and this lovely resort fit the bill. The two-bedroom villa was fantastic. Highly recommend.
We came all the way from Turkey and chose this hotel among thousands, but were treated like a burden instead of guests. This was our most disappointing stay in Bali, and we don’t recommend Kori Ubud or plan to return. We paid for a 100m² Luxury Suite and were put in a smaller, cheaper room with no balcony. No one explained the change or offered compensation. Booking.com lists different prices for the rooms, yet staff insisted they were “the same.” We were downgraded without consent and still charged for the more expensive suite. The promotion was “Free dinner for 3-night stays.” We stayed three nights, but they refused to honor it because they’d moved us to a different room. Then at 11 PM, when we asked for a bottle of water, we were told we’d reached our “daily limit” of two bottles. That was a shocking lack of care in a country known for hospitality.
