The rainforest setting at Nandini Jungle by Hanging Gardens is a real highlight, with a peaceful, immersive feel that suits a jungle retreat. I chose the Jungle Royal Suite after reading positive online reviews, drawn by the promise of a luxurious stay in the Payangan/Ubud area. Breakfast was good, with a varied choice of fresh Indonesian and international dishes. Getting there from Ngurah Rai International Airport took about 2.5 hours because of traffic and narrow, winding roads. That’s typical for this area, but it’s worth planning for, especially with luggage or a tight itinerary. Two things affected comfort in the suite. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room properly in Bali’s humid weather. I told the staff as soon as I arrived, but it wasn’t fixed during my stay. Also, the mattress and bed linens looked worn and didn’t feel comfortable enough for a premium suite, though the bedding was clean. They could use an upgrade. The staff were courteous, and the natural beauty and atmosphere remain strong points. With better room upkeep, especially reliable AC and improved bedding, the resort could offer a more consistent experience. I’d recommend it to travelers who value seclusion and jungle views over flawless in-room amenities, but I’d ask about recent upgrades or room conditions before booking.

The jungle view was stunning, and the staff made us feel at home right away with their kindness and welcome. Housekeeping, especially Torpa and Sorti, kept our room perfectly clean every day. They washed our clothes, folded them neatly, and brought them back the same day. We loved the food and slept very comfortably. The air conditioning was the best I’ve ever experienced. Everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

Agus and the whole staff were incredible, always smiling, welcoming, and ready to help. Even the driver Ngurah was friendly and helpful. The cleaners left little welcome notes each morning, and the restaurant staff remembered my food allergy and each nut every night, which made me feel so comfortable. The bar and restaurant food was impeccable too. The rainforest grounds and infinity pool were beautifully kept and wonderfully peaceful. I also loved the complimentary massage before heading down for a walk to the spiritual river on the resort grounds, which is a must. Hope to visit again soon!

The team was the strongest part of our stay. Everyone was friendly and professional, and they tried hard to help whenever we needed anything. Rico was especially kind, and we had some lovely chats with the shuttle drivers on the way to and from Ubud. We were first given a Suite Villa, which was nice but felt a little short on character. Since we wanted the jungle feel, we asked to return to our original Jungle View Villa, which felt much more authentically Balinese to us. The practical side of the resort was disappointing. The pool and bar shut at 6pm, so there was no chance to have an evening drink or dinner by the pool. Ubud is about 45 minutes away, and the shuttle only goes there at 10am and 2pm, with one return at 3pm. Grab and Gojek are options, but the limited schedule didn’t feel right for a remote 5-star resort. Costs also seemed out of proportion. With rooms around AUD 200-350 a night, about $20 for fried rice felt unreasonable when cheaper places were nearby. Some activities were very expensive too, including a riverside dinner at 16 million rupiah, more than the priciest package at their sister property Hanging Gardens. The staff and room were excellent, but the restrictions and prices let the experience down.

What made Nandini Jungle by Hanging Gardens memorable was how personally we were looked after. Staff knew our names and preferences, and were glad to help with even little requests. It felt warm and attentive throughout. The resort sits well away from Ubud’s crowds, tucked into greenery with paths through the trees and the river running through the grounds. A natural river and sacred spring were a particular highlight. It’s a peaceful place if you want to slow down and be close to nature. We also enjoyed the fresh, carefully prepared food, and the dedicated cigar menu was a distinctive touch. We left feeling rested and already thinking about coming back. For us, it was a quiet kind of luxury, with nature and genuine hospitality all around. Highly recommended.
