Ocean View Dive Resort Tulamben

It was a comfortable, practical base for diving, especially for a USAT Liberty wreck trip or a certification in Tulamben. The setting is quiet and focused on diving, so it’s easy to rest between dives. The shore entry is convenient, just about a one-minute walk away. I stayed at Ocean View Tulamben Dive & Resort while doing my Open Water Diver certification with Wailino Dive. The grounds are spacious, with around 20 cottages, two main buildings containing multiple rooms, two pools, and an on-site dive center. They’re also expanding the property, so development is continuing. I’d recommend it for a dive trip.

We came for a family diving trip and certification, and had an awesome staycation. The rooms were clean, the facilities were good, and the hospitality was lovely. There’s beach access, too. Good value for a family holiday, and we’d recommend coming back.

I’m still here, and the rooms, service, and location have been very good. The dive operation, though, has left a lot to be desired. I’m grateful today is my last dive, because I wouldn’t dive with them again. Another dive master came and spotted me after I’d been left underwater by the person acting as my dive master. I’m also grateful to that other dive master. There have been multiple excuses for leaving someone underwater. I’ll write a full review with all the facts once I’m home. If you’re looking for a dive outfit, I’d go elsewhere.

The price may be cheap, but the basics need attention. Our room felt run down, with a broken switch and no plug point near the bedside. The restaurant also kept running out of ice at dinner, and there was none at breakfast. Reception and restaurant staff came across as impatient and had an attitude, which made the visit unpleasant. With better maintenance and service training, the place could improve, but as it is, I wouldn’t recommend it.
