Om Ham Retreat and Resort

We left feeling lighter, more grounded, and grateful after the Mandala flower experience at Om Ham Resort in Ubud. Making the Mandala felt deeply therapeutic and eye-opening, and we felt seen through the instructors’ gentle reflections on what our finished designs seemed to show about how we were feeling. They explained each step and its meaning clearly. We chose flowers, then arranged the petals in circles layer by layer. Working with the colours, textures, and patterns became a kind of meditation and helped quiet our minds and bring us into the moment. The instructors made the experience special. It’s a calming, unique way to reconnect with yourself through activity rather than sitting still, and we’d definitely recommend it.

The retreat is a little way from central Ubud, but the free shuttle runs twice daily and makes getting into town easy. There’s no elevator, so anyone with mobility issues should ask for a lower-floor room. The restaurant’s healthy food is tasty and affordable, and breakfast is good, though the choices are somewhat limited. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with working air-conditioning and decent showers. The pool is lovely for unwinding, but it can get crowded and could use some maintenance. It’s a peaceful, beautiful place to relax and recharge, next to a rice paddy and surrounded by lush jungle. The staff were among the kindest and most attentive I’ve met, always warm and ready to help. There are great yoga classes and spa treatments, plus less usual activities like cooking classes and sound healing. Om Ham offers a comfortable, reasonably priced mix of tranquility, wellness, and good service. I’d recommend it to travelers who want to disconnect in Bali’s natural surroundings and want a holistic retreat rather than luxury.

The staff were kind and excellent throughout, and the stay felt warm and comfortable. There were thoughtful complimentary extras that made it even better. On our last night the air-conditioning stopped working, so they quickly moved us to another room and offered a floating breakfast at no charge. A lovely place to reconnect with nature, and I highly recommend it.

This was my second 5-day retreat at Om Ham, and I’m already looking forward to doing it all again. Friends and colleagues say I seem happier since the trip. The retreat included 3 scrubs and massages, 3 sound healing sessions, one each at Ubud Aura, Pyramid of Chi, and Om Ham as Sacred Chant Meditation, 1 temple meditation, 4 yoga classes, mindful gardening with a herbal tea making lesson, daily deep sleep tea, daily gentle stretch massage, a healthy detox menu, and the room. The setting suits me: a rice field view across the road, nature alongside modern facilities, and none of the feel of a typical hotel. The spa is steps from reception, and the yoga and meditation room is just above the rooms. They’re very flexible with scheduling and preferences. I prefer sound healing to yoga, and could switch without extra cost. I could book a massage just a few hours ahead, and adjust the stops or timing on a day tour I booked with them. The staff are welcoming, helpful, smiling, and speak really good English, which is rare in Bali. The food is fresh and comes from their farm across the road. Their raw avocado cheesecake is one reason I returned. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Ubud city centre, with a free shuttle dropping you off at 11 am and picking you up at 4:30 pm if booked a day ahead. The airport drop-off was arranged externally. The driver I had in 2024 spoke very good English, was helpful, and had a nice car. They offer reasonably priced tours to places like a coffee plantation. The stay is reasonably priced, the rooms are hygienic, which isn’t always the case in Bali, and the air-conditioning is good. Guests are generally well behaved, since most are here for a peaceful retreat and time to themselves. A few staff deserve special mention. The sound healing tutor Mina is inspiring, full of wisdom, and has a naturally moving voice. I cried every time he started playing the harmonica. Massage therapists Novia and Widi were impressive. Novia remembered me from 2024 and was very welcoming. Widi accurately and effectively worked on my long-term pain points, making future massages more effective. Nusri, who led the Ashram journey, was incredibly patient with all my questions. We talked about big life questions in a conversation that felt inspiring and enlightening. I was so absorbed in what she said that I forgot the usual pain I get when sitting cross-legged. Manager Julita cared enough to ask for my feedback and how they could improve. Dewa the driver remembered me from 2024 and waved when I was looking for him at the airport, a warm welcome. All the staff were amazing. I’m sorry I couldn’t track down everyone’s names. Even the man cutting the grass was kind, asked my name, and remembered it during my stay. Thank you, Om Ham!
