We spent two nights in a family bungalow as a family of four, with two adults and two kids. The location is handy for shops and restaurants, and everyone enjoyed the lovely warm-water pool. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the cleaning was decent. Breakfast was fine for a short stay, though nothing special. The toilet was okay too. The main problem was how dark the bungalow felt inside. It has shutters instead of proper windows, so opening them lets in mosquitoes, while closing them leaves very little light. That was manageable for a couple of nights, but would feel gloomy on a longer visit. There were two single beds upstairs for the kids, but our girls felt uneasy sleeping up there in the dark, so we all slept downstairs. A reasonable short-stay option if location and friendly service matter most, but I wouldn’t pick it for a longer holiday because of the low natural light.

We had a fantastic week in a private villa and would happily come back. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfasts excellent, and the on-site restaurant convenient and good. We also appreciated being able to refill our water. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the little plunge pool was great to have anytime. The one downside was noise, especially around the private villas. Music from the nearby bazaar and club could be heard outdoors, making it hard to relax in the otherwise comfortable, well-equipped outdoor living area. It was less noticeable inside. I understand Calmtree can’t control it, but it’s something to know before staying. The music seemed to get quieter in the evening, except for one night with a live band. Even with that issue, we had a great time.

This small, charming place is quiet and centrally located. The staff were the best, so welcoming and friendly. I liked staying somewhere with a more traditional style amid all the new modern hotels, and it still had all the modern comforts. The bathroom was fabulous, outdoors but partly covered.

Our stay at The Calmtree Bungalows was awful. The place was dirty, with bugs and geckos around, and some made noises at night. We had no hot water for showers, and the food seemed unsanitary. We didn’t get our money back and had to book somewhere else immediately. I strongly advise against staying here; it didn’t feel safe, clean, or comfortable at all.

I really enjoyed staying here. The bungalow was lovely, and the staff made us feel welcome and were very friendly. Showering outdoors in the wind and rain was a new experience for me.
