Villa Kemuning Ubud

There are four quiet double rooms in the villa, with a pleasant pool, and it sits among some beautiful rice terraces. The staff are friendly. It’s not close to town, which is probably the main thing to think about.

A simple but lovely place for a family holiday. In the morning, you can walk along the road to watch the sunrise over the rice fields and coconut trees, and see little groups of ducklings looking for their mother.

I never expected to stay somewhere like this. The fields were brown and past harvest when we visited, so the daytime view wasn’t the highlight. At night, though, the fireflies made the whole area sparkle. Looking up, you see stars in the sky, and looking down, it’s fireflies over the rice fields. The room is modern and nicely designed, with glass doors opening to the balcony. The bathroom is unusual and open air, so people on the street could see inside, though there’s a curtain for privacy. If that setup makes you uncomfortable, ask for a ground-floor room, where the bathroom has partial brick walls. The Balinese staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, like they considered us part of the family. Food was standard, and the pool felt a bit small. This remote location may not work if you’re traveling without a vehicle. But if you want solitude, a place to meditate, or simply a break from crowds, it’s a good fit.

Thanks for a calm, beautiful, peaceful stay. Alex made delicious pasta and potatoes with avocado and shrimp. The road is a little dangerous, but manageable.
