Villa Semana Resort & Spa

We loved our room at Semana. It has a lovely traditional design with some modern touches. The bathroom has two showers, one indoors beside the bathtub with somewhat low pressure, and another outdoors that worked fine. The hot water was good, the hairdryer worked well, and the amenities were fine. I especially liked the Sensatia Botanicals soap and shampoo, a local favorite 🫶. My husband and I stopped in Bali after a work trip to Labuan Bajo and chose Ubud for a quiet weekend. I’d hoped to find a room with a private pool overlooking a valley within our budget, but there wasn’t one that fit. Villa Semana Resort didn’t have valley-facing rooms either, but the garden view villa was a beautiful alternative, with trees and greenery giving us extra privacy. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was ordered from a menu with both Western and local choices, which suited us well. We only ate at the resort restaurant for breakfast. The complimentary extras were nice too: a 15-minute massage, a 30-minute couples photoshoot with one digital photo, and a shuttle to Ubud Market. I’d love to return.

We had a small problem with our villa after heavy rain, but the staff handled it brilliantly and moved us to another one quickly. The grounds are beautiful, well cared for, and very peaceful, like a little oasis amid busy Ubud. The staff were friendly and available whenever needed without hovering. The restaurant was excellent. It costs more than some places, but the food, service, and atmosphere made it worth it. Breakfast was amazing and dinner was incredible. Spa massages also cost more than in town, though the setting and well trained staff made them worth trying at least once. We had the best week and would highly recommend staying here. I stayed three nights and loved this resort. My room had a private pool, worth every rupiah. The staff were kind and helpful, and the place deserves more attention. They call it 4-star, but the way they do things feels 5-star. It’s also close to the Bali swings, ATV activities, Ubud Market, and other attractions. Definitely worth a stay.

A quiet escape from the city, with nature sounds and an infinity pool looking out over the rice terraces. The villas feel private and combine Balinese charm with luxury in a beautiful design.
