The staff were friendly and helpful, and both check-in and checkout were quick. Housekeeping did a great job, too. The rooms were clean, well lit, comfortable, and spacious, with clean beds and pillows, hot and cold shower water, and porches where you can sit outside for fresh air. The hotel is good value and easy to reach from the main road, with roomy parking. It isn't right on the lake edge, though it's very close, and there was no swimming pool. Breakfast leaned heavily on local food, which could be too spicy for me, so more Western choices would help. Also, there are steps on the way to the rooms, so it isn't wheelchair friendly.

The best parts were the helpful, friendly service and the view of the lake and mountains. You can catch the sunset from some spots. The room felt only so-so for its price, and the lighting could be brighter. There was also a sharp creaking sound each time we stepped on the U-turn stairway to the third floor.

I've stayed here twice, and the rooms were clean and spacious both times. Its location is great for seeing Lake Toba. On my first visit, the balcony looked out over the lake and rice fields, which was magical. The second time, it faced the main street. There's also a bookstore, cafeteria, and a little harbour area where people can look around and play by the lake. They offer boat trips to what I think is the nearest island. I haven't tried one yet, but I definitely will someday.

The hotel is near the city centre, with a nice room, balcony view, and good breakfast. There's no lift, but they have a ramp to make it easier to bring luggage.

I stayed here in February 2014. It was a relatively new, minimalist hotel then, and seemed fine as a place to rest while visiting Toba via Silangit. The food was average, but the Lake Toba scenery in the backyard was lovely, especially in the early morning sun.
