We had a pleasant three-day stay at Emaki Bumi Singgah. It’s tucked into the city center, but the street is calm, and well-known places like Adhighana, great for breakfast, and Warung Seruni are an easy walk away. We rented a motorbike elsewhere and could park it at the hotel. We arrived early and couldn’t check in yet, but the staff kindly held our luggage while we went to explore the city. When we came back, the room was ready and our bags had been brought in. It had a hair dryer, the usual tea, coffee and sugar, an electric kettle, and a smart TV that worked well for a movie night. The main drawback was the noise. Our room was next to the pool and seating area, and the hotel is right beside its cafe, so it could get loud at times. We were out most of the day, so it didn’t bother us too much. We also had mosquitoes, hehe. Still, we enjoyed our stay.

The room was clean, and the pool was nice. This homey guesthouse is near Gedung Sate, with restaurants and coffee shops all around. It would be helpful to add a bathroom exhaust fan and accept credit cards. I’d come back.

The location is really strategic, and the staff were helpful, though clearly overwhelmed. But I was shocked when we arrived for our weekend stay, Saturday to Sunday, and found out nobody had told us that swimming lessons use the pool every day from 7 AM to 6 PM. There were people checking out, cafe customers, and parents waiting for their kids’ lessons, so it got crowded. Since the lessons start at 7 AM, you wake up to the swim teachers calling, “Go, go, go...”
